Decide the niche with 5 test videos
Last updated 13 Oct 2026
Data narrows it to 2–3 candidate niches. Your own 5 test videos make the call.
Course · Stage 2: Pick a niche with data · Lesson 6/24 · 8 min
Why it matters
Market data tells you a niche has room; it doesn't tell you whether you can make good videos in it.
Five test videos at the same quality and pace are the cheapest way to find your fit before committing three months.
Step by step
- Pick 2–3 candidate niches with high small-channel opportunity.
- Make 5 videos per niche on 5 different winning topics (no repeated angle).
- Post at the same pace and time slot.
- After 7 days per video compare: average views, retention, comments.
- Pick the winner; if none is clear, change the angle before changing the niche.
Common mistakes
- One video per niche, then a verdict.
- Different quality between niches.
- Dropping a niche after two days.
Ready-made prompt (ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini)
I have 2 candidate niches: [A] and [B]. For each, write 5 test video topics, each with a different angle (pain, number, contrarian, story, comparison), plus a title under 60 characters. No made-up numbers in titles.
Exercise
List 5 test videos for each candidate niche.
Done when: 5 topics × 2 niches, no repeated angle, and the metrics you will compare after 7 days.
