Choose your market and language: same topic, different country, different money
Last updated 13 Oct 2026
A topic can be crowded in one country and wide open in another — and ad revenue can differ several times over.
Course · Stage 1: Start right · Lesson 2/24 · 10 min
Why it matters
RPM (revenue per 1,000 views) varies a lot by country. The same video watched in the US, UK or Germany usually pays far more than in Southeast Asia.
But high-paying countries are also crowded. You need both sides: demand (viewers) and supply (channels already making it).
Step by step
- Pick one topic you can sustain for 50 videos.
- Dig it in 3–6 countries at once (NicheLens translates the keyword into each market's language).
- Compare three things per country: niche score, recent videos beating their channel, estimated RPM.
- Drop countries whose language or culture you cannot handle (even with AI voice, the script must sound native).
- Pick one main country and one backup for later.
Common mistakes
- Looking only at RPM and ignoring competition.
- Machine-translating a script word for word — natives notice instantly.
- Choosing a country from hearsay instead of data.
Ready-made prompt (ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini)
Topic: [topic]. Here are dig results by country: [paste niche score / outlier videos / RPM table]. Rank the countries by opportunity for a new channel, explain each, and list 3 things to adapt for viewers in the top country (culture, examples, currency). Do not invent numbers.
Exercise
Dig one topic in at least 3 countries and copy 3 metrics per country into a table.
Done when: A 3-country × 3-metric table and one line choosing the main market with a numeric reason.

2. High RPM but fierce competition — what then?
3. Why not machine-translate a script word for word?
