Product review scripts: honest, tight, nothing invented
Last updated 13 Oct 2026
Shoppable videos sell only when viewers trust them. Say what the listing says and show the product in real use.
Course · Stage 4: Scripts that hold attention · Lesson 13/40 · 10 min
Why it matters
One exaggeration ("stays cold for a week", "twice as effective") can get a video removed, orders returned and the whole channel distrusted.
Viewers decide in seconds: they need to see the product, see it used, and know why it fits them.
Step by step
- Pick a real product on sale, open its listing and copy 3–5 stated facts: material, size, capacity, bonus items, policies.
- 0–3 s: show the product + the one benefit viewers care about most (not the brand name).
- Middle: one real-use shot (pouring, wearing, applying, unboxing) — every benefit gets a visual proof.
- End: one clear call (tap the cart / link) — only when the video really has a product attached.
- Final pass: delete any number (hours, %, times) the listing does not state.
Common mistakes
- Inventing hours, percentages or "twice as good" comparisons.
- Claiming benefits with no visual proof.
- Asking people to tap a cart that isn't there.
Ready-made prompt (ChatGPT / Claude / Gemini)
Product: [name]. Facts from the listing: [paste 3–5 lines]. Write a 24-second shoppable review (3 scenes × 8 s): scene 1 hook with a benefit, scene 2 real use, scene 3 call to tap the cart. Use only the facts I gave, add no numbers, no comparisons with other brands. For each scene give: visual, voice-over (max 2 short sentences).
Exercise
Write a 3-scene script for one real product and mark the source of every fact.
Done when: Every fact in the voice-over appears on the listing; every benefit has a visual proof.
